JUNK JOURNALISM: This Family Lives ….in a Garbage Truck (…and about to get the last laugh)

– This looks like an image of a pretty standard garbage truck, right? One look inside tells a different story.

This seemingly standard-looking garbage truck is actually a fully functional tiny mobile home, and one that I have to say I thoroughly admire. More and more, people are turning to alternative housing options. It’s harder to get a home loan than ever, mortgages are expensive, and new houses are build so poorly; they end up falling down after a couple decades.

gt3

So many houses too are entirely too big, and the more space we have, the more likely we are to fill it with things we don’t truly need. It’s one of the biggest complaints about living in a normal sized home that I hear from people who have downsized; it’s just so easy to collect crap. Garages get filled with unused items, every drawer is stuffed, and there’s clutter everywhere. It’s hard to achieve peace in an environment like that.

gt5

Consider too the dramatic decrease in cost of living. Tiny homes cost less to build, are often mortgage-free, and have dramatically lower utility bills. I live in a 1200 square foot home and my heating bills in the winter are already something I grit my teeth over.

And there’s one more benefit to this garbage truck house that I haven’t yet mentioned:

gt7If you want to blend in, it’s incredibly easy.

When I first saw this truck, I had a mental image of every zombie apocalypse tv show and film I’d ever seen. Can you imagine how easy it would be to blend into a cityscape with a vehicle/home like this? It’s like every prepper’s dream come true.
