– The multistate training operation Jade Helm15 will begin next month, and plenty of Texans still seem to think that this is all an elaborate ruse and the federal government is about to take over Texas — a state that is already part of a larger country that the federal government oversees. It wasn’t clearhow many people thought that the U.S. military was building tunnels under abandoned Walmarts FEMA camps. Thanks to a new University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll, we now know that the answer is: “More than a few!”
Forty-four percent of Texas voters — including 31 percent of Democrats — think that it is very or somewhat likely that the federal government is sending troops to Texas and other states so it can impose martial law; 43 percent think it is likely that the federal government just wants to take their guns.

Poll: Texans have little trust in Federal Government
AUSTIN — Despite government testimony and bipartisan comments from Washington leaders to the contrary; many Texans continue to believe that the federal government remain a danger, according to a poll from the Texas Tribune and the University of Texas.
The military’s Jade Helm 15 exercises are being held across multiple southwestern states to train the military in war games that mirror some of the terrain they will face in other parts of the world. States and regions have been labeled friendly or hostile. The military has said there is no danger to residents and that most of the activity will take place without residents being bothered.
Still, conspiracy theorists have posited that the military is being used to take over parts of the country including Texas. Other theories have included the imposition of martial law and claims that recently closed Walmart stores were being used to help take over areas.
In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor the military activities. The new Texas Tribune poll found that 39 percent of Texans somewhat support or strongly support the governor’s move. On the other side, 28 percent either somewhat or strongly oppose sending the state guard to monitor the military. The poll found 32 percent didn’t know or had no opinion of the Governor’s action.
