– The beta launch of GoodGopher.com is going phenomenally well, with thousands of new websites already submitted by webmasters across the New Media / Independent Media / Alternative Media. Public feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and even stronger than I anticipated. There is apparently a very strong demand for a credible alternative to Google when it comes to searching the web for truthful, independent information.

Right now, GoodGopher is crawling and indexing submitted websites while we tweak the crawler for performance and accuracy. We’ve run into a few crawling glitches as expected, and we’re working through those right now. GoodGopher.com is expected to open to the public on July 1.

One of the coolest things about launching GoodGopher is that I’m becoming aware of some really amazing websites I never knew about. It’s made me realize that my own circle of sites I visit really needs to be expanded. For example, I’ve discovered Wakeup World, an independent news site, Zen Gardner, a very intelligent site that can help you escape The Matrix, and Ancient Origins, an independent website covering truly fascinating information about ancient astronauts, human origins, lost knowledge and much more. Each site is reviewed before being accepted into the index. This is how we keep out the garbage junk sites like CNN.com, CDC.gov and of course MSNBC.

What we’re building with GoodGopher is the world’s first privacy-protected search engine that filters out corporate propaganda and government disinformation. When it launches, you’ll be able to run searches on anything you want and reliably find independent sources offering content on those topics. Websites run by corporate trolls — such as the widely-discredited Wikipedia — are banned from the index.
