– Nissan has reported recently that Japan now has more electric car charging stations than they do gas stations. Nissan states that the country has over 40,000 electric car charging stations and 34,000 traditional gas stations.
“An important element of the continued market growth is the development of the charging infrastructure,” Nissan’s chief financial officer, Joseph G. Peter said in a recent statement.
Nissan has been on the forefront of electric cars and they currently sell two different models in Japan. the eNV200 minivan and the LEAF hatchback.
However, one thing to keep in mind, they included private charging stations at people’s personal homes. this means if someone’s garage contains a charging station, it is not technically open to the public like regular gas stations are.
Nevertheless, the numbers highlight the rising demand for electric cars.
