– As Europe gears up for continental elections this week, one topic that is decidedely not on the public agenda is the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). There have been no public discussions or debate on the issue despite the fact that the fifth round of talks on the treaty got under way this week in Virginia — behind closed doors, of course, and with no public consultation.
The following video from the Transatlantic Institute lays out in simple terms many of the reasons why all EU and U.S. inhabitants (with the sole exception, of course, of corporate bigwigs, lobbyists and lawyers) should be very worried about what is up for grabs behind those closed doors in Virginia.
